Orthopaedic unit at BMU begins admission

The Orthopaedic Surgery Department of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Super Specialied Hospital officially commenced indoor patient admission services today.
Marking the first day of admission, two 20-year-old players from the Bangladesh National Women's Football Team successfully underwent Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgeries in their knees.
Each surgery was conducted separately and lasted approximately one hour, said a BMU media release.
A six-member medical team led by Associate Professor Dr Sheikh Farhad and Associate Professor Dr Chowdhury Iqbal Mahmud from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery performed the procedures. Assistant Professor Dr Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman and Dr Md Ali Haider also played key roles during the surgery.
