Nahid asks management of educational instts to sue arsonists
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has directed the management of all the educational institutions, which were damaged in the arson attacks carried out by the BNP-Jamaat men, to file cases with local police stations.
The minister gave the directive while holding a meeting with the senior officials of Education Ministry and Primary and Mass Education Ministry held at his office today.
The minister also urged the managing committees, teachers, students and local people to get united to resist such attacks on educational institutions.
Earlier on yesterday, the minister said a total of 531 educational institutions, including 419 primary schools, 82 secondary schools, 21madrasas and nine colleges, were damaged across the country in the pre-polls arson attacks.
He said necessary measures will be taken to repair or reconstruct the damaged educational institutions.
UNB adds: Abdul Mannan, 50, the headmaster of Sujabad Government Primary School in Shahjahanpur upazila of Bogra, who was arrested for setting fire to his own institution, was suspend for his misdeeds today.
