A mobile court today fined two traders in Dhaka's Badamtoli wholesale fruits market TK 12 lakh for selling rotten and expired dates.

Amirul Islam, owner of Monir Enterprise, and Akhter Hossain of Rafia Enterprise were fined Tk 6 lakh each. They were selling rotten dates during the month of Ramadan, said Sarwoer Alam, executive magistrate, who led the drive.

The mobile court, assisted by Rab-10, also seized two tons of rotten dates and sealed a warehouse of Rafia Enterprise, Sarwoer said adding this year's overall situation in the food markets is comparatively  better than previous years.
