The Legend Rock
The lady with the snake skin
In half dark little office space, near Boysen park
Talks about a retired life:
2 men-and-a daughter in her life
And a place in Hot Springs and Thermopolis
Cottonwood creek, Earth and Spirit.
Take the HWY toward Meeteetse
Turn left, at Hamilton Dome
At the cross-road, stay West
Toward Cottonwood Creek,
Watch-out for the two cattle guards
Turn left (just at the 2 cattle guard)
Follow the road, until you reach the Fork
Stay Left
The road leads to a key:
The Gate to the Rock
In summer it is all Yellow ochre-Green
Open and Waiting - the pungent Sagebrush
It waits for the wind-river guests, the waterfowl, the meadowlark…
On the site-trail:
Meandering low, the sandstone rocks swell up high
Stay on the track:
On your Right
The giant rocks and the Story unfolds
Of an abandoned time, magic men and spirit world
Watch for the rattles, though.
They still slither across the sacred land
23 miles West of Wyoming.
