The Daily Star deserves better
As far as I can remember, the editorial policy of The Daily Star during the regime of the army-backed Caretaker Government was to consistently oppose any political agenda of that government beyond its initially proclaimed mandate of holding a free and fair election. As a regular reader of this newspaper and an occasional contributor to its opinion column, I am deeply saddened and alarmed by the on-going political vendetta against its editor. As a newspaper that has come to represent the media face of Bangladesh to the English speaking world, The Daily Star surely deserves better.
