Woman sentenced to death for murder of visually impaired husband

A Noakhali court today sentenced a woman to death for arson against her visually impaired husband.
The woman's parents were sentenced to life in prison in the same case.
Noakhali District and Sessions Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed gave the verdict against Bibi Kulsum and her parents Abul Hossain and Mili Begum, said Gulzar Ahmed Jewel, an assistant counsel of the court.
Abul and Mili were also fined Tk 50,000 and Tk 1 lakh, respectively. Kulsum and her mother have been missing since the murder.
According to the case, on May 3, 2018, Kulsum burnt her husband Shahid Ullah to death as he refused to give Tk 1 lakh and name one of his flats in Dhaka in her father's name.
Shahid died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on May 12, 2018. The couple were parents to three children.
