Five to walk gallows for killing man in Dhamrai

A Dhaka court today sentenced five people to death in connection with a case filed for killing a man in Dhamrai's Daitia area in Dhaka nine years ago.

Judge Ismat Jahan of the Second Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court in Dhaka handed down the sentence in presence of three accused, Assistant Public Prosecutor Shakila Jeasmin Mitu told The Daily Star.

The death row convicts are Shilpi Akter, Ismail, Abdul Mazid, Nur Islam and Sumon.

Of them, Nur Islam and Sumon are on the run.

The punishment of the fugitives will be effective from the day of their arrest or surrender, the judgment said.
