Khaleda to address Jamalpur rally tomorrow
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will address a rally in Jamalpur tomorrow to drum up public support for their demands of scrapping judge impeachment bill and holding fresh parliamentary election under a non-party administration.
She reached at Jamuna Resort in Tangail from Dhaka at 10:00pm where she is scheduled to spend the night on her way to Jamalpur, Khaleda’s media wing staff Sayrul Kabir Khan told The Daily Star.
Khaleda, who is also head of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, will leave Tangail for Jamalpur at 11:00am tomorrow and is due to address the rally at the district's Zila School ground at 3:00pm.
Local units of the alliance is organising the rally to press home their demand for cancellation of the 16th amendment to the constitution that has empowered parliament to remove Supreme Court judges on ground of misbehaviour or incapacity and holding a fresh general election under a non-party government.
This will be Khaleda's fifth rally since January 5 one-sided election boycotted by the BNP-led alliance.
Earlier, the BNP chief held rallies in Rajbari, Munshiganj, Dinajpur and Brahmanbaria to drum up public support in favor of the opposition alliance's demand.
