Mash hints at starting off with spin attack against England

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza did not reveal whether England will be set a trial by spin in tomorrow's match at Cardiff -- a seamer's paradise, where pacers thrive -- but said that the Tigers have the spinners to use the tactic of starting with spin in the Powerplay.

In both of England's opening matches they lost their opening batsman to spin during the Powerplay as South Africa and Pakistan started with Imran Tahir and Shadab Khan respectively. Against New Zealand Bangladesh started with Mehedi Miraz in the Powerplay. Mashrafe said that spin is playing an important role all over the world.

"Tomorrow, I can't say, but no, certainly all spinners all over the world, they played a big role, which is one of our biggest strengths," he told reporters today at a press conference when asked if Tigers will start with spin against English openers. He however talked about Shakib being a pillar of strength and Mehedi having an impact for the Tigers too with the new ball as well.

"We know that Shakib is -- all over the world, he is one of the biggest strengths for us. Miraz is doing well for a long time. I mean, the last two years, he's doing so well for us with the new ball.

"Whatever the tactics is, they have to be confident about their approach. So yes, it has been a tactic (using spin in Powerplay) which we have seen in England, against England, South Africa started with spin. So most of the team, you know, are using this tactic," Mashrafe said.

"But you have to be confident enough with your tactics.

"So tomorrow, I never know. As I say, it all depends on the weather and everything," he concluded.
