Doctor who died in Sylhet 2 days ago was Covid positive
The physician of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, who died on June 20, 2022, was infected with Covid-19.
The doctor was identified as Shamsur Rahman, associate professor of Paediatric Surgery department of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College. He was also the head of the department, reports our reports our Sylhet correspondent.
The doctor died at his residence on Monday (June 20, 2022).
Brigadier General Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, director of the hospital, said they have collected samples from the body of the doctor on suspicion of Covid-19 infection as he had fever before his death.
Later, the report came positive, he said, adding that his wife is also infected with the virus.
"The Covid-19 restrictions were relaxed for various reasons. Now we are giving utmost priority to maintain health guidelines. Everyone who came in contact with him recently was tested for coronavirus. I have instructed all of the hospital and college to follow the health guidelines," he said.
According to the daily report of Sylhet divisional health director, 60 samples were collected from the district. Of them, three tested positive for coronavirus. The positivity rate is 5 percent.
