A doctor in Dhaka has prescribed molnupiravir (Eskayef's Monuvir) for the first time for treatment of Covid-19 in Bangladesh.

Dr. Asma Habib, an associate professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Bangladesh Medical College & Hospital in Dhaka, prescribed the drug to her own brother today.

Earlier today, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) authorised two of the country's leading pharmeceuticals companies Eskayef and Beximco to market molnupiravir, the first ever Covid-19 pill. It is said to be able reduce deaths and hospital admission from Covid-19 by 50%.

The name of the Covid-19 patient is Rajib Rahman (40). He was advised by Dr. Asma to start with 200mg pills for five days, four pills each in the morning and evening.
