10 Covid deaths, 339 new cases reported
Ten people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday and 339 new infections were recorded in that period.
The total number of deaths now stands at 27,778, and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The 339 new infections took the total number of people infected with coronavirus in the country to 15,65,827, added the release.
Against a total of 18,812 samples tested, the positivity rate was 1.80 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.48 percent.
In those 24 hours, at least 509 Covid-19 patients have recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 15,28,371.
The recovery rate was 97.61 percent.
Among the 10 deceased, four were male and six female.
One was aged between 21 and 30 years, one between 31 and 40, two between 41 and 50, three between 51 and 60, two between 61 and 70, and one between 91 and 100 years, said the DGHS release.
After a record-breaking spike in June and July this year, the transmission of the virus started declining from early August.
On March 8 last year, the DGHS reported the first three cases of Covid-19 in the country.
