Spl Campaign: 66 lakh to be jabbed Thursday
More than 66 lakh people, aged 25 and above, will receive their second dose of Covid-19 vaccines in a special countrywide campaign on Thursday, officials said yesterday.
Those people received their first dose on September 28 in a special campaign marking the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On that day, 66,25,123 people received their first jab.
A circular from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) yesterday said only those who received first jabs on September 28 will get the second ones on Thursday at the centres where they received the first shots.
Meanwhile, the DGHS said five people died from Covid-19 in the 24 hours preceding 8:00am yesterday.
With this, the total number of deaths from the disease reached 27,828.
At least 289 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 15,67,981.
The new cases were detected after testing 20,773 individuals. The positivity rate was 1.39 percent and the overall positivity rate was 15.31 percent.
In those 24 hours, at least 413 Covid-19 patients recovered taking the total number of recoveries to 15,31,740.
Of the five reported dead, two were men and three women, two were aged between 51 and 60 years, and three between 61 and 70, added the release.
