Second round of mass Covid vaccination begins
Bangladesh today rolled out the second round of its mega Covid vaccination drive without any registration, aiming to achieve the target of vaccinating 90 percent people of the country.
This round of the campaign will continue till March 30, said a notification issued by the Health Ministry.
Vaccine seekers will get the second dose from the previous centers where they had received the first dose during the 1st round of this campaign, according to the notification.
People, age 18 or above, and received the second dose four months back, will be able to get the booster shots at the centers even if they do not receive the SMS.
Besides, the vaccine seekers, age 12 years or above, who got the first dose before 28 days, can receive the second dose under this campaign.
But, in case of AstraZeneca vaccine only, the second dose should be administered two months after the first dose, it added.
Students above 12 years were urged to take the first dose during this campaign if they did not receive yet.
Meanwhile, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be administered as booster doses to the front-liners, senior citizens and women depending on availability, said the notification.
The government took the initiative to administer at least 1 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses on February 26 to achieve the target of vaccinating 90 percent of people in the country. Later, this campaign was extended till February 28.
