16 die in Covid units of Khulna hospitals in 24 hours
Sixteen patients died while undergoing treatment at the Covid units of four Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8am today.
The hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital, Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital and Khulna General Hospital.
Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at KMCH, said that seven patients died at the unit in 24 hours till this morning. All of them were Covid-19 positive.
A total of 126 people were undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid unit till 8am today. Of them, 46 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 48 in yellow zone, 13 are in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 19 at intensive care unit (ICU), he said.
Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, five patients died at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours, till 8am today. Seventy-five patients were admitted at the Covid unit of the hospital till this time.
Three patients died at the Covid unit of Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital, said Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath, spokesperson of the unit. Forty-two patients were taking treatment at the unit till this morning.
In Khulna General Hospital, one Covid-19 patient died during this time, said Dr Kazi Abu Rashed, spokesperson of the hospital's Covid unit. Forty patients were taking treatment at the unit till this morning.
