Global acclaim for Grand Sultan resort in Srimangal

Grand Sultan Tea Resort & Golf at Srimangal of Moulvibazar in the country has been recognised as the world's best golf resort at the World Luxury Hotel Award 2014.
The award was handed over to the authorities of the resort at a ceremony at Cape Town in South Africa on December 6.
This is the first resort operated by Bangladeshi management to achieve such award within a year of its launch in January this year, the resort said in a statement.
Khwaja Tipu Sultan, chairman of Grand Sultan, unveiled the award at the resort's grand ballroom at a programme to mark its first anniversary on Thursday.
“The award is an achievement of the Bangladeshi people, as we have been recognised as the world's best golf resort as a Bangladeshi organisation and with Bangladeshi people,” Sultan said.
The achievement marks another step forward for the country's tourism industry, Sultan said.
Grand Sultan Tea Resort and Golf, the first ever 5-star resort in the country, has an area of 13.6 acres surrounded by tea estates, according to the statement.
