Girl falls to death in Nandan Park
A seven-year-old girl died as she fell down from a ride in Nandan Park at Baroipara of Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital, on Saturday evening.
Sonaly Akter, a nursery student of Oxford Kindergarten at Pagla of Narayanganj and a resident of Golachipa in Jhalakathi, was declared dead at a hospital.
Sonaly was on a hand-driven merry-go-round named "Space Chair" in the play zone for kids and at one stage, she fell down from it, reports our Savar correspondent quoting witnesses.
The girl was trying to look down through a space between the seats and fell down, said sub-inspector Zakaria Hossain of Ashulia Police Station, adding that the girl was attended by her aunt during the accident.
Quoting security personnel of the park, Nandan Park's marketing head Zubaid Al Hafiz, however, told The Daily Star that none was with the child when the accident occurred and claimed that the ride was safe and meant for children below 10.
A case was filed against the park authorities in this connection.
