FISH & CO.

Now that the crazy buzz for Fish and Co. (right next to Pizza Hut in Gulshan 1) is finally starting to simmer down, we're here to tell you why you should or shouldn't go, if you haven't gone already or if you can't decide if you should go again. That sentence was too long, but so is the waiting line at Fish and Co. That ought to tell you something – that brand marketing is what sells food. But jokes apart, Fish and Co. is a Singapore-based chain restaurant which promises to serve the best fish in the country.
The first time I went to Fish and Co., starving and excited, I had the best mussels and chowder in my life. The ambiance is fun, because they decorated the place in a nautical theme with ships, wooden roof paneling, steel buckets for holding dinner utensils, comfortable lower decked chairs, etc. But it's really the loud chattering of people and clattering of steel forks on plates that really makes the place lively. The bright yellowed lighting suits the lively atmosphere.

As for food, my favourites are the blue mussels, Tk. 685, from the appetisers (do have the garlic lemon butter sauce that comes with the mussels too, because that's what makes it so good) and the fried calamari, Tk. 545; the New York Fish and Chips, Tk. 780 because it has parmesan cheese in it. If you aren't looking for cheesy deliciousness, then I would suggest the Singaporean one instead, which costs Tk. 685. Also, keep in mind that the fish can get a little greasy and it's quite big. So if your stomach can't fit it, share the fish and chips with a friend. Ask your server what the soup of the day (Tk 225) is, because the clam chowder is brilliant. Fish and Co. offers a number of drinks, from which I would suggest the Pepsi or Sprite float, Tk. 145 because it isn't too pricey and complements the meals pretty well. But you might also like the zesty lemony Mojito, Tk. 275, or their signature Chocolate Junkie, Tk. 345. There are a range of platters, ranging from Tk. 800-2300, that can be enjoyed by larger crowds, but be sure to pick the right ones because as some of the items are repeated, you might just end up with five plates of grilled lobsters. Don't forget to sprinkle on the lemon that comes with most of the meals to bring about lightness to the food.
The second time I had gone wasn't as thrilling as the first because I ordered the same items. So, I'd advise you to experiment and order what your stomach tells you to. Maybe you're craving for Cajun Style grilled salmon, Tk. 1145 or some classic seafood spaghetti Tk. 800, so don't bother listening to me. The staff are quite friendly, and maybe they could have some music for an even better experience. The meals might be a little expensive but they are indeed appetising. You'll have a good time with family or friends there. So if you haven't gone there, you should try the place out. Slightly themed restaurants are always enjoyable in Dhaka.
Fish and Co. is situated in Crystal Palace, 22 Gulshan South Avenue, 1212 Dhaka.
