Families must educate youths on history of Liberation War: expatriates' minister
Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad today said steps have to be taken from the families to tell the young generation about the true history of the country's independence.
"A nation without knowing its true history cannot make progress," he said, while addressing a discussion marking the Golden Jubilee of the country's independence at his ministry, said a press release.
Imran Ahmad called upon the countrymen to take oath of patriotism to build the nation in light of achievements made in the past five decades, said the release.
Addressing as chief guest, the minister said achieving independence through the Liberation War is the greatest feat in the thousand years of history of the Bengalis while Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was its key architect.
Addressing as chief discussant, former pro-vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Nasreen Ahmad said Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are synonymous.
She said the country made significant progress as Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is at the helm of the country.
Secretary Ahmed Munirus Saleheen of the expatriates' welfare ministry chaired the discussion.
