Met office forecasts rains in eight divisions

Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicted rains across the country in 24 hours starting from 9:00am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Rangpur and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Barishal, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country," said the met office bulletin.
Country's highest 128 mm rainfall was recorded in Kutubdia of Cox's Bazar district in 24 hours till 6am today.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across Northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, it added.
