Syed Ahmed Shawki triumphs as Best Director, ‘Karagar’ wins Best Series award

The acclaimed director Syed Ahmed Shawki emerged as a shining star at the Blender's Choice-The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards 2022, as he clinched the prestigious Best Director in Series award in the popular category for his riveting thriller web-series, "Karagar". Adding to the triumph, the production also bagged the Best Series award in the popular category at this star-studded event.

Shawki's Hoichoi thriller "Karagar'' delves into the enigmatic story of a prisoner who mysteriously occupies cell number 145 at Akashnagar Central Jail, which has remained sealed since 1971. With Shawki's directorial brilliance at the helm, this project boasts a stellar cast, including Chanchal Chowdhury, Intekhab Dinar, Tasnia Farin, Shatabdi Wadud, Jayanto Chattopadhyay, Afzal Hossain, Bijori Barkatullah, Fs Nayeem, and A K Azad Setu, amongst others.

Shawki had previously received acclaim for his exceptional direction in "Taqdeer", one of the most-watched and revered mystery and thriller-crime series. Notably, he was also one of the writers for the series. Before "Taqdeer", Shawki co-directed "Sincerely Yours, Dhaka", a film that competed for the Oscars in 2021, showcasing his versatile and celebrated career in the world of entertainment.
