South Korean cinema rules over 75th Cannes Film Festival

South Korean cinema has once again hit the global headlines after director Park Chan-wook bagged the award for best director for his production "Decision to Leave" and Song Kang-ho won best actor for his drama "Broker" at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

"Decision to Leave," a thriller-romance film revolving around the characters of a detective and a widow, stars Korean actor Park Hae-il and Chinese actor Tang Wei.

This is the third time Park has managed to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival. He was previously awarded the Grand Prix in 2003 for the thriller "Oldboy" and the Jury Prize in 2009 "Thirst", a horror genre film.

Meanwhile "Parasite" famed South Korean actor Song Kang Ho has become the first male actor for his country to receive the trophy for Best Actor at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.  Crafted by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, the film features the story of a group of individuals who are looking to sell a baby they found in an 'adoption box'.

Song Kang Ho was previously seen in a pivotal role in "Parasite" -- the first Korean movie to receive the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
