Megastar Uzzal’s wife Merina no more
Bangladeshi megastar Uzzal's wife Merina Ashraf Beauty passed away in the early hours of today at the age of 52, after suffering from kidney-related complications.
Merina was under life support when she breathed her last around 3:59 am at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
Uzzal confirmed the news about his wife's death to The Daily Star this morning.
"My beautiful conjugal life has ended with the demise of my better half and my soulmate Merina. She was my inspiration, and always encouraged me to follow my dreams. I request my fans and well-wishers to pray for the salvation of her soul," mentions the actor.
He also said that his wife's condition started to deteriorate after getting admitted to the hospital.
"Merina was brought under life support as her condition started to get worse. Ultimately, she succumbed to her illness and passed away at the early hours today," adds the actor.
Merina's namaz-e-janaza will take place at Gulshan Jame Masjid after Asr prayers. She will be laid to rest at the Banani Graveyard.
Ashraf Uddin Ahmed, popularly known as Uzzal, stepped into the film industry in 1970 with Subhash Dutta's "Binimoy". He earned the title of 'megastar' for his relentless contribution to Bangladeshi cinema in the last 50 years.
