I spent nights in jail reading Humayun Ahmed: Pori Moni
Pori Moni recently posted some pictures, where she seemed to be reading Rabindranath Tagore's "Sanchaita". The actress told The Daily Star that reading is her hobby, and whenever she gets spare time, she reads books.
"Among many other writers, Tagore is my most favourite," says Pori. "I have read most of his works." She informs that her hobby grew when she was little. "Even in the breaks between shoots, I always tried to read books," says the "Swapnajaal" famed actress. "When I was carrying Rajya in my womb, I used to read a lot."
Similar to Pori, her husband Sariful Razz is also a bookworm, she shares. "Whenever he is out shooting, Razz always carries books in his bag, which amazes me," asserts Pori.
According to the actress, Humayun Ahmed and Muhammad Zafar Iqbal are two of her favourite writers of all time.
She has finished reading numerous books by these two authors. "I have already read 'Ratuler Raat Ratuler Din', authored by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal twice," shares Pori. "I have never imagined that the story will be translated to cinema (Adventure of Sundarban), and I will be playing an important role in the project." The film will be released on January 20, the next year.
The actress is fond of Himu, the much-loved character created by the wizard of words Humayun Ahmed. She discovered Misir Ali, the mysterious character formed by the writer in a new dimension during the time she was in the lock-up. "During that time, I spent nights in the lock-up reading the 'Misir Ali' Series. If I had not read the entire series, I would never know how incredibly the character has been penned."
Pori would definitely want to mention three more eminent authors from the other side of the border in her favourites' list— Sunil Gangopadhyay, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, and Samaresh Majumdar. "I have read almost all of their popular works," she says.
Lastly, the actress spilled the beans about her dream role. She shares the character Labonnyo from Rabindranath Tagore's "Shesher Kobita". "I have a weakness for this role, and I was over the moon when I was casted for it. Unfortunately, the pandemic ruined everything, and the project never happened."
The actress also shares that, if anyone offers her in the role again, she would definitely take up the project.
