Bubly talks about “Chokh”, her first release without Shakib Khan
"Chokh", a film starring starring Shobnom Bubly has been announced for release on October 1. For the first time, Bubly will be seen on the silver screen without Shakib Khan.
This time, Bubly will be seen with Nirab and Roshan. In a candid chat with The Daily Star, the actress talks about her upcoming releases and more.
What are you upcoming releases?
After a long break, 18 months to be exact, finally my film is going to be released in the treatres. My last theatrical release was Kazi Hayat's "Bir" where I had shared the screen with Shakib Khan.
I tend to stay very excited before any release and this time the joy and thrill is doubled by the wait.
This is the first time you will be seen in a film without Shakib Khan. How was your experience?
Being an actress, I want to work with different co-stars as each artiste is different and has something different to offer both as a co-star and to the audience. It's not that I had decided to only work with Shakib Khan.
I like taking up new roles and exploring new personas. Rather than anxiety, I feel happy that I was able to break my monotony.
Do you think the audience would prefer going to the cinema halls now?
The audience is slowly getting used to the 'new normal' and the movie theatre owners are taking safety measures very seriously given that the pandemic is yet to complete move out of the country.
It might take a while but I am hopeful that we will soon get back to our old ways.
There are many rumours surrounding you and Shakib Khan. Do you have anything to say in that regard?
These sort of rumours surface when you give back-to-back releases with the same co-star and our case was no different. Nevertheless, I find them to be baseless and I hope my fans will come across the truth sooner or later.
What else are you currently working on?
I have finished shooting for "Talaash", "Casino' and "Bidrohi" and currently waiting for them to release theatrically. I am yet to finish shooting for the much awaited film "Leader: Amie Bangladesh. I look to start shooting for "Revenge" in the upcoming days.
What are your views regarding the emergence of OTT platforms? Have you taken up any OTT project?
I believe we all should have the ability to adapt to advancement. The whole world has embraced OTT platforms and I too look at it as a positive change.
As an actress, I will always prefer movies and theatrical productions over all other mediums. However, I do wish to appear on OTT platforms if I come across a project that manages to impress me.
