“Bagher Bachcha” to release on Chorki tomorrow
"Bagher Bachcha", the new installment of the television famed short film series "Dakatia Bashi", is set to release on Chorki tomorrow.
Directed by Goutam Koiri, the film features noted actor Shahiduzzaman Selim and Khairul Basar in lead.
The poster and trailer of the crime thriller were released recently on Chorki's official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The trailer showcases that the plot revolves around robbery. Both the characters and the setting are local, echoing the shared context behind the common Bangla term "Bagher Bachcha"
"As filmmakers, we craft multiple stories but not all themes or genres are fit for television or theatre. However, with OTT platforms, we have more scope to experiment, especially while deciding on the technical aspects such as sound and set designs, artiste grooming, and rehearsal, among others, which might not always be available for television productions," shares the director.
"I wanted to narrate this story and I am happy to have finally found a way to reach my audience," adds Goutam Koiri.
The production was shot within a couple of nights. "A bunch of good actors, both from the film fraternity and theatre have been cast in this production and that's what made the shooting experience enjoyable and memorable at the same time," shares noted actor Shahiduzzaman Selim, who is also the president of Actors' Equity.
Sharing the screen with the National Film Award winning actor Shahiduzzaman Selim has been a privilege for Khairul Basar. "Through this production, I was able to discover that he is not just a great actor but also an amazing person," he shares. "Through 'Bagher Bachcha', I was able to explore a new character and I thoroughly enjoyed walking in his shoes."
Al-Alim Hasan Nirjhor has written the screenplay of the production while Barkat Hosain Polash is the cinematographer of the production. The Chorki original also features Deepak Suman, and Jahangir Alam, among others.
