18 Bangladeshi film organisations discuss forming Film Federation
18 Bangladeshi film organisations had a meeting at Bangladesh Film Directors Association in BFDC to discuss the formation of Film Federation for the development of the film industry.
The decision regarding the formation of the federation will be finalised within a few days. The meeting highlighted various factors such as how to bridge the gap between the directors and the actors, how to improve the current condition of the Bangladeshi film industry, and the state of cinema halls.
The federation will consist of presidents and general secretaries from 18 organisations of the film fraternity. Among those, only two people will serve as leaders of the organisation.
Earlier, 18 film organisations implemented programmes such as "Cholochitro Poriber" and "Cholochitro Shartho Shongrokon Committee" to improve the condition of films. Unfortunately, many complained that they did not see any such development after the formation.
Sohanur Rahman Sohan, President of Bangladesh Film Directors Association told The Daily Star that they are trying to work on the development of the film industry.
"The industry is facing a huge crisis right now. We need to work hard together as a unit so that we can improve the current scenario. We need to take initiatives that will lead to developments for the film sector. Thus, we have decided to form the Film Federation to implement practical policies," he said.
"We will soon hold a seminar on the future of Bangladeshi film industry, and how we can take more effective steps forward. We will need to start fresh discussions about it."
Zayed Khan, General Secretary of Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti informed The Daily Star that everything is fine between the film organisations right now.
"Everything is fine between us, as we have fixed all the misunderstandings. We have decided to unite together for the betterment of the film industry," Zayed Khan stated.
"A certain group has been blaming me for the problems between the organisations, with no evidence whatsoever. Together, we are going to work hard to develop the film sector," the actor added.
