Aftermath, Meghdol set to headline Moitree Concert in Kolkata
Bangladeshi bands, Aftermath and Meghdol will be performing as the headlining acts at this year's Moitree Concert at the Rabindra Bhavan in Kolkata.
Among the 14 bands in the two-day-long concert, Aftermath will be performing as the showstopper on July 22 and Meghdol on July 23. Another Bangladeshi musician, AK Rahul, will also be performing with his band at the concert.
Aftermath's founder and guitarist, Faheem Hossain, said, "We are very proud to be able to represent Bangladesh in such an event of international level."
According to Navid Iftekhar Chowdhury, vocalist of the band, Aftermath was supposed to participate in the concert last year, but were unable to do so due to visa complications.
Aftermath, popular for their melodious tunes and youthful lyrics, began their journey in 2007. In the last 16 years, the band has received a number of awards and recognitions. Their studio album, "Jed" was released in 2021.
Since 2003, Meghdol, has been known for their thoughtful lyrics, use of metaphors and sophisticated sound design. The band has released a total of two albums, "Droher Mantre Bhalobasa" (2004) and "Shaharbandi" (2009), and collaborated on a number of projects, including a film and a franchised musical show.
Meanwhile, AK Rahul, who has been involved with bands like Poraho and Trainwreck, gathered a bunch of fan-followers over the years. He has been performing under his own name since August of last year, with a group of talented musicians. He became a part of history while performing with heavy metal band Trainwreck, the first Bangladeshi band to perform at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, which is widely recognised as the world's largest heavy metal festival.
Moitree Concert is a large-scale Bangla rock music festival that is organised in collaboration with bands from both West Bengal and Bangladesh. Over the years, this event has become a place of unity for Bengali rock music lovers from India and Bangladesh. This year's line-up includes Indian bands like Kalpurush, Missing Link, Blood, Fire in the Rodeo and many more.
