Ctg, Barishal tourist spots abuzz with Eid holidaymakers

A large number of holidaymakers thronged the tourist spots, amusement parks and other entertainment centres of Barishal and Chattogram to enjoy the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
In the port city, the recreational places have been busy with visitors since Saturday.
The parks, sea beaches, Naval Academy Road, the bank of Karnaphuli, and the zoo saw a huge turnout of visitors as the weather was favourable, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

Foy's Lake Concord Amusement World was one of the most sought-after places for the people of Chattogram.
Ashraful Huq, who works in Dhaka and went to Chattogram for the holidays, visited the park with his wife and daughter yesterday.

"They enjoy the sea world of this park the most," he said referring to his family.
Like Ashraful, many visited the park with family while many were enjoying it with friends.
Around 20,000 visitors came to this park since Saturday, said Bishwajit Ghosh, deputy manager (marketing) of Foy's Lake Concord Amusement World.
"The number is expected to increase in the next few days," he said adding that the park remains open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The Chattogram Zoo was also thronging with holidaymakers. On Sunday alone it saw a total of 19,000 visitors, said Shahadat Hossain Suvo, curator of the zoo.
Crowds were also seen at Patenga Sea Beach, Naval Academy Road, and other recreation spots of Chattogram.
In Barishal, Among the tourist spots, Muktijoddha Park and Trish Godown area on the Kirtankhola river bank were the most crowded areas.

Huge number of people also gathered at Bangabandhu Uddyan, Durgasagar and Planet World Shishu Park, reports our local correspondent.
The bank of Kirtankhola river became a popular tourist destination due to the hot weather. Many were seen taking boat rides, reports our Barishal correspondent.

People with families and friends were thronging the bridge over Lebukhali river and Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat bridge at Dapadapiya section of Kirtankhola river.
Aminul Hasan, who came to the bank of Kirtankhola with his daughters, said it was a hassle-free journey to his village home in Barishal from Dhaka this year.

Taslima, a garment worker who also went to Barishal from Dhaka, said there was no suffering on the road this year and that her children were enjoying on the river bank.
Apart from Barishal, Bhola's banks of Meghna and Betua Ghat were also popular sites among Eid holidaymakers.
