Taqi murder: Fugitive accused surrenders before court, sent to jail
A fugitive accused in the murder case of Narayanganj student Tanwir Muhammad Taqi was sent to jail after he surrendered before a court today.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Kawsar Alam passed the order when accused Sultan Shawkat Bhromor surrendered before his court and sought bail, our local correspondent reports.
Asaduzzaman, the inspector at the Narayanganj court, said Shawkat was on the run since securing bail from the court on March 20, 2014.
Later, the court issued an arrest warrant against Shawkat, who had given a confessional statement on November 12, 2013.
Seventeen-year-old Taqi went missing soon after he left home around 4:00pm on March 6, 2013. The following day, his body was found floating on the Shitalakhya river.
