Mushtaq’s death in custody: Probe committee gets 5-day extension
The two-member probe committee, formed to investigate the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed who died in prison on February 25, got five more days to complete the investigation.
SM Torikul Islam, deputy commissioner of Gazipur district confirmed the matter to The Daily Star tonight.
The committee was supposed to submit its report yesterday, but could not do so and eventually sought an extension, he said.
After the death of Mushtaq, the district administration formed a two-member probe committee with Gazipur's executive magistrates Umme Habiba Farzana and Md Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury.
Writer Mushtaq Ahmed, arrested under the Digital Security Act, died in prison on February 25.
He was arrested in May last year from his Dhaka residence.
