The Anti-Corruption Commission today arrested a land acquisition official from the GEC Circle in Chattogram city over his involvement with a racket in Cox's Bazar that used to extract money from people.

The accused Bijoy Kumar Singho is an additional land acquisition officer now posted in Khagrachhari district, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

Bijoy was in the same post in Cox's Bazar where ACC said he got involved with the racket. He was transferred to Khagrachhari after allegations surfaced against him in land acquisition.

"Bijoy Kumar's name came up while interrogating two middlemen who were arrested in a case filed by ACC regarding a land acquisition scam," Shaif Uddin, deputy assistant director of ACC Chattogram Integrated Office-2, told The Daily Star.

"We will produce him (Bijoy) before a court", he added.
