2 members of banned militant group JMB held in Narayanganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have detained two members of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila.

The detainees are Kamrul Hasan Bhuiyan (25) and Mozahid Hasan (20) of Gopalnagar area of Cumilla, said Suminur Rahman, senior assistant director of Rab-11 in a press release sent to media this evening.

Kamrul, former student of Department of Theatre at Jagannath University and Mozahid, a former student of Computer Science & Engineering at City University, were involved in militant activities during their studies, said the official.

Acting on a tip-off, a Rab team launched a drive in Asarer Char area of Sonargaon upazila around 11:30pm yesterday and detained them, he said.

During the drive, the elite force members recovered mobile phone, extremist books and leaflets from their possession, added the official.
