Condemned war criminal Mir Quasem Ali will not take any decision on presidential clemency until the return of his son Barrister Ahmed Bin Quasem, who was allegedly picked up by some unidentified persons 22 days back.

Khandokar Ayesha Khatun, wife of the Jamaat-e-Islami leader, told reporters after meeting her husband at Kashimpur Jail-2 in Gazipur today.

"My son is also one of the lawyers in the case. Without consulting him, I cannot take the decision whether I would submit mercy petition or not," Ayesha said quoting her husband.

Nine members of Quasem's family including his wife and two daughters -- Sumiya Rabeya and Tahera -- entered the jail around 2:30pm and stayed there for an hour, said Prashanta Kumar Banik, jail super of Kashimpur Central jail-2.

Earlier on August 9, Ahmed Bin Quasem was allegedly picked up by five unidentified men from his Mirpur DOHS home in the capital around 10:50 at night, his family claimed.

Dadon Fakir, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, said they have learnt about the incident from the media. He, however, could not confirm it.
