Khulna Metropolitan Police gets new service vehicles, patrol cars
With an aim to ensuring the fastest possible police response even across great distances, the authorities of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) have purchased four new police sedans and two new micro-buses for the force.
Equipped with all kinds of modern technology and instruments needed for policing, these cars -- 1500 cc Toyota Axios -- and micro-buses have started operation in Khulna city recently, Khandaker Lutful Kabir, commissioner of KMP, told The Daily Star today.
"We are using these vehicles for patrolling in different areas of the city. Besides, we are also using these vehicles to ensure police service to anyone seeking support from us at any time," said the commissioner.
Regarding the expense, the commissioner, without disclosing the details, said they have arranged the cars by their own initiatives as a part of updating their policing effectiveness and taking their services to people's doors.
The fast response teams from the KMP headquarters are operating the vehicles and they remain on duty round the clock, added the commissioner.
