JCD leader hacked dead in Dinajpur

A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student body of BNP, was hacked to death by miscreants in Bochaganj upazila of Dinajpur last night.

The deceased, M Majnur Rahman (32), was a resident of Dhantola area in the upazila and general secretary of the Bochaganj upazila unit of JCD, our Dinajpur correspondent reports, quoting police.

Ayub Ali, officer-in-charge of Bochaganj Police Station, said a group of 7-8 miscreants swooped on Majnur at Bakultola at around 11:30pm and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him injured critically.

Majnur died on the way to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur, the OC said.

On information, police sent the body to the hospital morgue for autopsy, the police official added.

The motive for murder could not be known yet, he said.

No case was filed or arrest made till filing of this report at around 11:00am today.
