Arrest killers of Buddhist monk
Parbatya Bhikkhu Sangha, an organisation of Buddhist monks from CHT, Bangladesh central committee, formed a human chain in front of the deputy commissioner’s office in the town yesterday, demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of a monk.
The throat-slit body of Buddhist monk Amrita Nanda, 50, of Khagrachhari, was found under the railway bridge in Cumilla city early Sunday.
On the day, the victim was returning Chattogram from Dhaka by train, said the speakers at the programme, adding that his body was found from Cumilla city the same day.
Criminals might have killed the monk and dumped the body there, they said.
The speakers further said they are very worried over their life and security in the country.
They also demanded to stop such killing and ensure proper security and protection to them.
Shuvo Darshi Mohathero, general secretary of Parbatya Bhikkhu Sangha of the central committee, and Sugata Longkar Bhikkhu, among others, spoke.
