Appellate Division extends stay order on HC verdict over including village police in national time scale
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today extended till July 13 its chamber judge's order that stayed the High Court verdict for including Mohalladars and Dofadars of the village police to grades concerned of the national time scale and for paying their due salaries.
The apex court also allowed the state to move an appeal before it on July 13 against the HC verdict.
The state has been directed to submit a concise statement mentioning the points of argument on the appeal to the court in eight weeks.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain came up with the order after hearing a leave to appeal petition filed by the state challenging the HC verdict.
Deputy Attorney General Samarendranath Biswas appeared for the state while lawyers Abdul Matin Khasru and Humayun Kabir Pallab represented the Mohalladars and Dofadars.
