Mayor-elect Anisuzzaman

Fifteen people, including newly elected mayor ABM Anisuzzaman of Trishal municipality, have been sued on charge of killing Jubo League activist Md Parvez, 23 on Friday night.

 AL's rebel Anisuzzaman was elected mayor of the municipality for the second time.

Parvez's father Ibrahim Miah filed a murder case with Trishal Police Station at around 9:30pm on Saturday night, accusing Anissuzzaman and 14 others, said officer-in-charge Md Moniruzzaman of the police station.

Parvez, a member of Ward No 3 unit of Jubo League, was loyal to defeated AL mayoral candidate Jahidul Islam Sarker.

He was hacked to death allegedly by the supporters of Anisuzzaman in the municipality on Friday night.

Two other Jubo League activists --Asar Ali, 22, and Delwar Hossain Delu, 22--were injured in the attack. They were admitted to Trishal Upazila Health Complex.

According to OC Moniruzzaman, a gang of 15-20 criminals swooped on Parvez, Ansar and Delwar in the municipality at around 10:20pm. They hacked the trio with sharp weapons, killing Parvez on the spot and injuring Ansar and Delwar.

As the news spread, Sarker's men blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh highway for about an hour, creating a long tailback.

Police on Saturday arrested two Awami League men, loyal to Anisuzzaman, from Trishal Municipality area for their alleged involvement in killing. They were yesterday produced in a Mymensingh court that sent them to jail.
