Weather is likely to improve gradually from the day after tomorrow, the meteorologist said.

At some places of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours. Besides, light to moderate rain to persist throughout the country.

Meanwhile, the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three.

All the fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.

Depression weakens

The deep depression that formed over the West Central Bay and adjoining North West Bay moved further north-northwestwards and weakened into a depression over the North West Bay and the adjoining West Central Bay.

It centred at 3:00am on Saturday about 760 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 730 kms southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 610 kms south-southwest of Mongla port and 620 kms south-southwest of Payra port.

It is likely to move in a northerly direction, said the latest special bulletin of the Met Office.

Under the influence of the depression, a deep convection is taking place over the North Bay. Squally weather may affect the North Bay, the coastal regions of Bangladesh and the maritime ports.

The maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. The sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
