Number of Covid-19 deaths recorded in 24 hours on the rise again
Forty-three people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This is the highest number of daily deaths due to Covid-19 recorded since May 9. The number of deaths was 56 on that day.
With this the total number of deaths in the country has reached 12,801 and the death rate stands at 1.58 percent.
At least 1,447 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 8,09,314 added the release.
The current positivity rate is 11.03 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.41 percent.
A total of 13,115 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 1,667 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,49,425 and the recovery rate at 92.60 percent.
Among the 43 deceased, 30 were men and 13 women. Of them, one was under 10 years old, one was between 21-30, five within 31-40, two between 41-50, 13 within 51-60 and 21 were above 60 years old, added the release.
