New, grim record every day: 112 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours

One hundred and twelve people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This is the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 recorded in a day so far in Bangladesh. Yesterday, 102 people died from coronavirus infection. On Saturday, the number was 101.
The total number of deaths has now reached 10,497 and the death rate stands at 1.45 percent.
At least 4,271 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 7,23,221, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 17.68 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.92 percent.
A total of 24,152 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 6,364 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,21,300 and the recovery rate at 85.91 percent.
Among the 112 deceased, 75 were men and 37 were women. Of them, 10 were within 31-40 years old; 12 between 41-50; 26 within 51-60; and 64 were above 60 years old, added the release.
