Lockdown in Rajshahi city extended for another week
The lockdown in Rajshahi city that was scheduled to end on Thursday midnight was extended for another week tonight.
All connectivity to the city from different upazilas will be suspended from tomorrow.
The decision was taken today in a meeting of the district administration that was attended by Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.
Mayor Liton announced the decision while briefing the journalists at Rajshahi Circuit house. He said the rate of infection was getting higher every day as the Delta variant, also known as the Indian variant, of the coronavirus has affected the city.
Rajshahi DC Abdul Jalil said all type of business and vehicular movement will be closed during the lockdown and all connectivity from different upazilas to the city will be closed.
RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique said, the virus has spread to different areas of the city.
