34 Covid-19 deaths, 1,988 new cases recorded in a day
Thirty-four people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this the total number of deaths reached 12,694 and death rate stands at 1.58 percent.
At least 1,988 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 8,04,293, added the release.
This is the highest number of daily infections recorded since April 30. Number of infections was 2,177 on that day.
The current positivity rate is 9.81 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.44 percent.
A total of 20,259 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 1,914 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,44,065 and the recovery rate at 92.51 percent.
Among the 34 deceased, 21 were men and 13 women. Of them three were between 21-30 years old, five within 41-50, eight between 51-60 and 18 were above 60 years old, added the release.
