First dose of Covid-19 vaccination to be suspended from tomorrow: DGHS
Administering the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine will remain suspended in Bangladesh starting tomorrow, until further notice.
Directorate General of Health Service issued a circular in this regard today.
The notice was signed by Dr Md Shamsul Haque, secretary general of Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce Committee.
The notice also asked all civil surgeons, chief health officials of city corporations and all upazila health and family planning officials to take measures accordingly.
"We have stopped first dose of vaccination considering our stock," Dr Shamsul Haque told The Daily Star.
Second dose of vaccination, however, will continue, he added.
Meanwhile, DGHS has asked Beximco Pharmaceuticals -- the sole distributor of Covishield to Bangladesh -- to supply at least 21 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine as early as possible.
"We have asked Beximco, so that the ongoing vaccination campaign is not disrupted," Prof Robed Amin, spokesperson of DGHS told The Daily Star.
