Fall in new infections noted in Covid-19 battered states: Indian health secretary
Battered by a severe second Covid-19 wave, India today said an early trend of fall in daily new Covid-19 cases and related fatalities has been noted across several parts of the country.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Indian Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the number of daily cases of Covid-19 is on a decline in at least 18 states and federally-ruled territories, reports our New Delhi Correspondent.
The states where Covid-19 cases are falling are Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Telangana, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, union capital Delhi, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
States and territories still under concern include West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Punjab, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh as they are showing a continued increasing trend in daily new cases of Covid-19, Bhushan said.
He said 26 states still have a positivity rate of more than 15 percent.
