Covid-19: Positivity rate jumps up by 3% in 24 hours, 54 deaths recorded
Fifty-four people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, during which the daily positivity rate spiked by more than three percent to 18.59 percent, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this the total number of deaths in the country has reached 13,399 and the death rate stands at 1.59 percent.
At least 3,883 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 8,44,970, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 18.59 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.44 percent. The positivity rate over the previous 24-hour period – till 8am on June 17 – was 15.44 percent.
A total of 20,882 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.
At least 1,955 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,78,421 and the recovery rate at 92.12 percent.
Among the 54 deceased, 35 were men and 19 women. Of them, one was between 21-30, five between 31-40, seven between 41-50, 15 between 51-60 and 26 were above 60 years old, added the release.
