Covid-19: Nearly 2 lakh total cases; 51 die, 3,034 infected in 24 hours
Fifty-one people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing today.
The death toll now stands at 2,547 and the death rate at 1.28 percent.
Three thousand and thirty-four people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The current infection rate is 22.54 percent and the total number of infections in the country is 1,99,357.
Bangladesh remains the 17th worst affected country in the world in terms of the number of cases.
The position is one step ahead of France and one step behind Germany, according to worldometer.info.
The total infection rate stands at 19.8 percent.
A total of 13,460 samples were tested in 80 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.
Meanwhile, 1,762 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, the DGHS said today.
The total number of recoveries stands at 1,08,725 and the recovery rate at 54.54 percent.
A total of 812 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours.
Among the deceased, 40 were male and 11 were female, while 13 were from Dhaka, 16 from Chattogram, three from Sylhet, four from Rangpur, six from Barishal, three from Rajshahi and six from Khulna division.
Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, three between 31-40, seven within 41-50, 15 between 51-60, 12 between 61-70, 11 within 71-80 and two were from 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
