Covid-19: 21 die, 2,111 infected, 1,893 recover in 24 hours

Twenty-one people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the total number of deaths to 6,275, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death rate now stands at 1.43 percent.

At least 2,111 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 4,38,795, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 13.83 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.97 percent.

A total of 16,469 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours. And at least 1,893 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 3,54,788 and the recovery rate at 80.86 percent.

Among the 21 deceased, 14 were men and seven women while one was under 10 years old, one between 31-40, six within 51-60 and 13 were above 60 years old, added the release.
