Cabinet division proposes to extend ongoing ‘lockdown’ for another week
The cabinet division has proposed to extend the ongoing strict "lockdown" for another week amid a spike in Covid-19 infections and deaths.
The proposal was made at a meeting of secretaries with cabinet secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam in the chair.
The proposal will be sent to the Prime Minister's Office soon for approval, sources from the meeting said.
Meanwhile, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the government is considering extending the one-week lockdown across the country as per the advice and recommendation of health experts.
The government is also considering relaxing the lockdown before Eid for the sake of life and livelihood, he said during a regular briefing.
